I’ve been getting a load mail on the tip line stating “You should make the iPod picture do video”. The iPod Linux team pulled this off already.

one more one that comes up from time-to-time is “You should let me plug my PSP into my iPod so I can utilize all of that storage space”. The reason this can’t work is since USB needs a host. In the situation of a PSP, iPod, keyboard, mouse, PDA… a computer is the hold device. USB gadgets can have other gadgets plugged into them if they function a hub, however they still need a hold gadget for control. Unless a gadget is particularly designed for “USB hold mode” attaching peripherals won’t work. This is why the iPod picture needs the camera adapter. It isn’t just a gender changer; it performs the USB hold magic that is missing from the iPod.
