Install Lollipop Based AOSP ROM on Nexus 4 and root it
The Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update is delayed to November 12, so the Nexus users have to linger around for another long week. However, this doesn’t imply that they ought to sit idle as numerous AOSP build ROMs are already making their way to the developer forums. So chances are you’ll find an AOSP based Android 5.0 ROM if you hold a device which is popular enough to draw the developer’s attention.
Nexus 4 users seems to be lucky in this case, thanks to C-o-M over at XDA for the first AOSP based Android 5.0 ROM ever. To Sweeten the pot, the developer also offering a pre-rooted ROM along with the non-rooted build but we seriously doubt anybody would opt for the non-rooted build. Prepare Your Device
Charge your Nexus 4 above 60% battery level to avoid shut downs during the process.
Backup your device storage, Contacts, SMS etc. using Google Sync service or any third-party app.

Install Lollipop Based AOSP ROM on Nexus 4
Download and transfer the files from the download section to the internal storage.
Boot into recovery mode by using the following fail-proof method:
Turn off your Nexus 4.
Press and hold volume Down + Power until you see the bootloader screen.
Press volume Up twice to select Recovery Mode and then press power button to boot into recovery mode.
Make a clean wipe of the device including cache, Dalvik cache, internal storage and system partitions.
Navigate to the mount options and choose to unmount the system partition.

Similarly, flash the Gapps package and the superSU package (only if you used the non-rooted build) and wait for the process to complete.
Reboot the device once everything flashed without any crazy errors.
The first boot might take a tad longer, so don’t panic even if you see the boot logo for around 10 minutes.
